Join us for a vibrant evening celebrating Bulgarian culture through music, dance, and community!
The evening will feature live performances by the Bulgarica Dance Ensemble from Chicago, with artistic director Petur Iliev, showcasing the energy, beauty, and rich traditions of Bulgarian folk dance. Guests will also enjoy Bulgarian music and have the opportunity to experience some of the rhythms and dances that remain such an important part of Bulgarian cultural life today.
Whether you already have a connection to Bulgaria or are discovering its culture for the first time, we invite you to come, enjoy the music, and celebrate with us!
Light refreshments will be served.
This gathering marks the first year of the Bulgarian Studies Initiative at the University of Illinois (external link), sponsored generously by the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Chicago and housed in the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center and the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Illinois.
Along with REEEC, Slavic, and the Consulate, this event is co-sponsored by the European Union Center and the Department of Dance.
